Can An Online Marketing Firm Speak Of The WWE Network?

By Rob Sutter

Following the launch of the WWE Network on February 24th a couple of months ago, there were expectations that came with it as well. You may be curious as to how many people have signed up since that time and how that can impact the money that World Wrestling Entertainment invested in the first place. If you would like further detail on the matter, I am of the opinion that an online marketing firm can offer further analysis. Where exactly does the WWE Network stand, you may wonder?

According to an article on the Los Angeles Times website, the WWE Network was able to garner around 667,287 subscribers. To further frame this, WWE said that it would have to reach one million subscribers by the year's end in order to break even with what it put into the streaming service at the onset. While such a goal might seem like a challenge, any online marketing firm can tell you that the WWE Network is currently only available in the United States. Firms like fishbat will tell you that it will go international before the year is out.

Another point that an online marketing firm might bring up is that it is heavily promoted on WWE's weekly shows. It's not of the question to tune into an episode of RAW on Monday night and be met with, at least, one commercial touting the many features of the WWE Network. This is a smart move because it will allow WWE to target its most important audience: the wrestling fans. In fact, one can make the argument that the newer wrestling fans are most vital.

Nostalgia is easily one of the strongest forces in the world and it is one that the WWE Network possesses in great volumes. The WWE Network not only has modern shows and content but it has a back catalog of older shows from not only WWE but other wrestling promotions to boot. What this means is that fans from the late 90's, for example, can have access to every pay-per-view during that period. To put it mildly, the WWE Network is one of the broadest services.

One has to wonder whether or not the WWE Network would be able to reach one million subscribers by the time that 2014 comes to an end. I believe that WWE can, especially when given the fact that the streaming service hasn't even reached other areas of the world. Keep in mind that WWE has international appeal, so it would not be out of the question to think that the goal can be reached. To me, though, it's just a matter of time until said goal is realized.
