The undercover method is another CID methods used in collecting information about certain crime. It involves an investigator pretending to be another person to gain access into a position where they can effectively collect information. There are simple as well as advanced techniques. The simple interview method involves the normal question by the investigators to collect new facts about a crime or to confirm the information they already have. There are few rules governing simple interview such as the need for investigators to avoid open-ended questions and informing the interviewer about their rights. However, advanced or complex methods involve the use of technology and experts to get information from the suspect or witness of a crime. Some of these methods include hypnosis and cognitive interview. Though these methods are relatively new there are so many controversies surrounding their effectiveness.

Technological methods are also used and they include the closed circuit television. These televisions are installed in premises and help capture the sound and picture of suspects and store this information to be used for future inquiries. Due to their likelihood of intruding on people privacy their use is governed by a variety of rules.

The other method is the use of technology such as the closed circuit television. These televisions have the ability to capture the motion as well as the audio of the suspects and to record this information for later retrievals. There are a variety of rules governing the use of CCTV due to the high possibility of them infringing on people rights. Surveillance is another crucial investigation method where a trained investigator trails the suspects to as they plan, commit or even after they have committed the crime.

In conclusion, not all methods are relevant for every type of investigation. Thus, there are many factors that determine the method to be used and these includes the information needed, whether the subject under investigation is criminal or non-criminal among other factors. However, methods such as interview are found in most of the investigations. Be well equipped with information.
